Eileen Best

Eileen Best, 84, started her learning journey with taster sessions at her local library in Blaina.

She enrolled with ‘The E-nable’ project, where she attended weekly internet sessions. Mrs Best’s husband bought her a laptop, but sadly he passed away shortly after. Despite this, Mrs Best was very keen to put the laptop to good use, in memory of her husband and joined the class at Blaina Library.

Within a very short time, Mrs Best had mastered her laptop and was using Skye to keep in touch with her son in New Zealand.

‘If I can do it at my age, - anyone can!’ – Mrs Best

‘Mrs Best is a fantastic role model for older learners, she has great enthusiasm and motivation, - getting on- line has really opened up her world’ – Ross, E-nable co-ordinator.

Mrs Best was nominated for an adult learner of the year award, May 2012 and won ‘Senior Learner of the Year’
